When installing the bar and chain, be sure the adjusting pin is placed into the bar adjusting hole properly. Failure to do this will cause the adjuster screw to become bent or broken. Once the chain has been tightened to manufacturer's specifications or according to your owners manual specs, you can tighten the bar nuts securely. 

Warning: DO NOT OVERTIGHTEN the bar nuts. Overtightening can either strip out the nuts or studs or worse break off the bar stud itself.
